The all too predictable Edwin was no match for Vancouver based opening acts Templar and Limblifter, who, despite their short onstage appearances, managed to entertain and deliver the most energetic performances of the evening.

Absent from the festivities once again was Limblifter drummer Kurt Dahle, which comes as no surprise to many since he had pulled the same stunt at prior shows. Although he was greatly missed by the fans, his absence did not prevent the charismatic frontman Ryan Dahle and fellow bandmates from delivering highly-anticipated tracks. Including "Screwed It Up," "Vicious" and their hit single from Bellaclava, "Ariel vs. Lotus" along with the catchy little ballad, "Wake Up To The Sun."

Despite Templar's high-powered energy and frontman Murray Yates' often Trevor Hurst-like-dance moves, to my surprise it not from the actual concert.. just a pic of ed doing what he does bestwas Limblifter's performance of hits such as "Tinfoil," which activated the occasional mosh pit. However, Templar did deserve much more than a simple applause from the crowd. There were women's shrill screams echoing through the venue when Yates' took off his shirt, leading us to believe that he may be the next Can-Rock heartthrob.

Once Edwin hit the stage the excitement came to a sudden halt. His set seemed to drag on for hours as he belted out tracks from his debut, Another Spin Around The Sun, such as "And You," "Hang Ten" and the latest single "Rush."

"It's a beautiful life, live it to the fullest," remarked Edwin when he introduced "Alive." If that's not cheesy, I don't know what is.

Occasionally he would take on the role of I Mother Earth's Edwin and perform songs from his past including, "One More Astronaut" and "Levitate," which added a little touch of aggression to the all too mellow sounds of his lacklustre set. If Edwin's goal that night was to bore and disappoint then he definitely succeeded.

"Fuck Edwin, he sucks," yelled an audience member... I wonder if he heard that.
