July 6, 1999 a gas station in the middle of nowhere (click on any of the photos to enlarge)
We (My friends Emily, Tammy, Kenny,
Mandy and my sister) were driving to Winnipeg, and we were about
a 1 1/2 hours out of Thunder Bay when we saw this tour bus drive by, and
I have this habbit of waving at tour buses, so we waved at it, and someone
waved back, and my friend Kenny said, "I think I saw a skinny skeleton
arm, it must be Daniel Johns." (it was a pathetic comment about his anorexia)
anyways, thats when we started thinking "Edgefest is that way! It
MUST be one of the bands"
So all these bands were flashing
in our brains, Silverchair! Matthew Good Band! Edwin! Hole!
| We ended up following the bus (not
on purpose, it was just the way the traffic went)
and then it turned into a gas station, I had to go to the bathroom, and we thought to ourselves, "If we don't stop now, for the rest of our lives we are going to wonder who the hell was on that bus!" so we got out, and talked to a guy named Kenny who got off the bus. Actually I said hello, then ran inside to get film for my camera because I needed some for Edgefest. So they talked to him, and I talked to the Roadies inside,and said "so, who's on the bus?" and they said, "I can't tell you, but they are from Ontario." So I thought it can't be Edwin. Then I ran back to my car to tell my friend Kenny, who is like Edwins BIGGEST fan, that it couldn't be Edwin, because they said they. So he sat in the car. While I was walking into the gas
station I saw his hot guy walk by, and I thought... hmm it could be Edwin
(take
a look at my pictures, he wasn't exactly looking like a decked out mega-star!
he was wearing shorts, a t-shirt, adidas shoes and a hat! He was
lookin' just like everyone else!)

I ran out to tell the girls that
I thought it was Edwin inside. We waited by the door, because
we knew that if he was in there he'd have to come out eventually.
And like 10 secons later out walks Edwin! Everyone started screaming,
yet no one really knew what to do. Someone got up the nerve to go
talk to him.
He was very nice, and agreed to take pictures with us! None of us wanted to run back to the car and get Another Spin Around the Sun for him to sign, because we didn't want to miss talking with him! He was incredibly nice, as well as his band. |
| I'd love to be able to tell you
what was said, but I can't remember because I was so excited. I know we
said we were going to Edgefest in Winnipeg (it was an 8 hour drive) and
he said that was cool.
We took pictures with him, actually
one of the roadies did,

Kenny was absolutely smashed when
we told him we met Edwin, he just said,
"I saw all your stupid girls screaming,
but I thought it was for nothing." Dont' cry for Kenny just
yet... he eventually got to meet his idol... (continue reading the encounters
