July 7, 1999 Edgefest Winnipeg

So I was up at the front for the whole entire Edgefest concert, and I was getting smushed, but it was awesome, so I didn''t mind! We (me, Patrick, Kim, Kenny, Mandy, Emily and Tammy) were in the first group of 20 to get in. It was awesome.

So only me and Patrick remaind at the front, which was okay coz he''s real fun to be around. So we were cheering and everything. He and Kim hadn''t driven with us, and I don''t think he believed me when I told him I''d met Edwin. It was just about time for Edwin to come on and we were so excited (and a little pissed from getting kicked in the head so many times) So right before Edwin came on, my friend Emily made it to the front. So, Edwin comes on, and the crowd goes wild, I was right in the front ( I mean right in the front, being pushed against the railing. So when he comes out, I yell "Edwin!" and he looks right at me and smiles, Patrick turns to me and says, "You really DID meet him." Because I guess when he looked at me, it was like he remembered me or something. So I took some good pictures, and it was really cool, until Edwin said something about Winnipeg crowds being crazy, and then people started pushing even more, and I was getting killed!

So I stayed up at the front for the rest of the concert, until Silverchair was done and me and Patrick (by that time only me and him were together, and thank God we were because I would have been freaking out if I was alone) went to buy water and then ran to get Edwins autograph (it was his time at the tent). We budded in everywhere we could, and then this man came and said "everyone past this poing will not be getting to meet Edwin" I was like "shit" but as soon as he left I walked to the very start of the line because this nice girl said I could go ahead of her. Anyways, even when I was up there, they said "sorry, he''s done." I was like "oh no he''s not!" So Edwin walked away, so I walked behind the gate and I was like "Edwin! Do you remember me?" Then he''s like "Oh, your the girl''s from the gas station." i was by myself, which was weird coz he said girl''s So anyways, he asked if I''d came all the way from Thunder Bay (because he''d slept there the night before, and I said yeah, then he sad that was cool that I''d came such a long way. Then I got him to sign a shirt for my boyfriend, that he wrote "Herb, all the best, Edwin" very sweet. Then he wrote on my cd, and said bye, and thanks for coming. He was really nice.

So that was my story of meeting Edwin, and a thousand other people must have met him that day, so it wasn''t really that special, but it was really nice.
