Edwin, Stephan Moccio and Dave Martin recently picked up a SOCAN No. 1 award for writing the hit "Alive." 

The trophies are given out by SOCAN – the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada – to recognize the work of Canada's finest songwriters.

JUNGLE MAN - July 27, 2000

Edwin got tropical while filming his new video for "Rush." 

A massive, indoor jungle set housed the video shoot on Tuesday, July 11. Borrowed from the TV series 'Peter Benchley's Amazon,' the renovated warehouse was packed with exotic tropical sights like huge palm trees, lush fauna and a treetop village. 

A tribe of jungle girls stalks a marooned Edwin as he tries to find his way through the wilds in the dreamlike vid. 

STOMPIN' - July 10, 2000

Edwin obviously turned heads with his Sunday, July 9 performance at the Calgary Stampede. 

His blazing set capped off a packed day of vintage trailer pulls, chuckwagon races and the featured rodeo events. Western fans loved every minute of the action as Edwin tore through selections from ‘Another Spin Around The Sun.’

FAVROITE NATIONAL MALE - May 16, 2000

Edwin picked up the award for the Favourite National Male in the third annual Georgia Straight readers' choice Music Awards. 

Readers of the Vancouver arts weekly cast their vote (one per category) for their favourite international, national, and local independent acts. The winners were announced at a gala party on Wednesday, May 10, 2000 in Vancouver, as a kick-off to the annual New Music West convention.

EDWIN - LIVE! - March 16, 2000

"Songwriting was the biggest challenge I had to face and it represents the biggest growth spurt I went through, as well," Edwin says. 

"The toughest part was not having the band environment, realizing that everything comes down to me. So, putting the album together took 
a phase of about six to eight months of pretty concentrated focus." 

The response to the disc, released late last spring, has been positive at Canadian radio, but Edwin says his live show is where he can really gauge response. So far, he says, fans have grooved to the vibe he creates with his band -- guitarist Ruben Huizenga, drummer Chris Simpson, bassist Ken Cunningham and guitarist Ron Bouchard. 

The singer promises a full evening tonight. 

"It'll be a musical journey for 90 minutes. Everything on my album will be played, maybe a couple of covers, maybe even an I Mother Earth song," he says. "It's a big production but intimate, too." - John Kendle, Winnipeg Sun.

ALIVE ONLINE PREMIERE - March 7, 2000

Edwin's hot new video for 'Alive' is now available online for your viewing pleasure! Directed by Rob Heydon, the video was shot over 15 days in a variety of locations, including Key Largo, Fla., a Toronto studio and the Blue Mountain Ski Resort. 

The vid features Edwin participating in some wild extreme sports including skydiving, hardcore mountainbiking and snowboarding. Edwin performed most of his own stunts for the video, including jumping out of a plane and repeatedly diving off the top of a high boat in rough water. 

The statue of Jesus shown in the video actually exists! It can be found deep underwater in Key Largo and was donated to the Florida Keys Dive Society by the country of Italy in the 1960's as a reward for their marine life conservation efforts. 

Edwin had to swim and snorkel repeatedly in extremely rough seas. The waves were so rough, three of the crew members spent most of their time getting familiar with leaning over the side of the boat. 

While it might look easy, Edwin spent several hours running, cycling, running, cycling and running and cycling in extremely hot weather. It was hard work. 

The old man who appears to die at the beginning of the video is actually Edwin's real dad! 

Edwin spent three hours swimming with two friendly dolphins at the Dolphin Research Institute and described it as an incredible experience he'll never forget! 

EDWIN'S SCREAMING KINGS TOUR 2000 - February 18, 2000

Get ready. Edwin is going on tour. 

Ed is embarking on his first headlining tour as a solo artist with a full slate of spring dates across Canada . He's also nominated for two Juno Awards, in the categories of "Best Male Artist" and "Best Rock Album". Edwin will be at this year's Juno ceremonies on Sunday, March 12, and is confirmed to be one of the presenters! Watch it live on the CBC. 

Toronto! Catch a sneak peek of Ed's live stage show at a special preview concert for Canadian Music Week on Friday, March 3, 2000. 

The Screaming Kings Tour kicks off on Wednesday, March 8 in Burlington, Ontario and will continue through March and April, with more dates to be announced soon.

Edwin's up for two Juno nominations for Best Male Artist and Best Rock Album. The 29th annual Juno Award ceremony takes place Sunday, March 12, 2000 at Toronto's SkyDome and will be televised nationally on CBC starting at 8:00 p.m. ET. Tune in!

AINT IT GOOD TO BE ALIVE?- January 5, 2000

Edwin's been busy working on his upcoming video for "Alive." The video features Edwin engaging in various extreme sports and enjoying life to the max. The video was shot in the Flordia Keys along with some other crazy locations. Look for it sometime in late February. We hope to have some digital photos for you on the site very soon!

Then listen up for details because beginning the second week of October Edwin will be touring with The Matthew Good Band in Thunder Bay, Sault St. Marie, Sudbury, North Bay, Halifax, Moncton, Fredericton, Saint John's, Charlottetown, and Sydney or Antogonish (N.S.). 

If that ain't enough, Edwin is scheduled to begin a national tour with The Tea Party around the second week of November. 

Wow! 'Another Spin Around The Sun' has gone gold !!! 

- American fans, keep your eyes peeled for Edwin's album to be released in the U.S. on Columbia Records in early 2000. 

- Keep your radios tuned.. "And You" is set to be the next single. Filming for the video starts at the end of August. 

- Be sure to vote "Hang Ten" and "Trippin'" for the video of the year for this year's Much Music Video Awards!

Look for Edwin's brand new video "Hang Ten" on MuchMusic and Musiqueplus! It made an immediate entry at #29 on the MuchMusic countdown. 

"Hang Ten" is a playful story line involving two tattoos who spot each other across a crowded club and attempt to get together. Their romantic meeting is made difficult by the hundreds of viciously territorial tattoos that lay in wait. 

The video was completed after five months of planning and three months of heavy post-production. Moving tattoos were created using a combination of 3D and 2D animation, digital compositing techniques, puppetry, underwater photography and live action animals including Amazonian caterpillars, lizards, snakes and spiders. Live actors in elaborate make-up were strapped into harnesses and surfboards to create the surfer hero tattoos.
